Short answer: the widest open windows for a corporate event in Turkey in 2027 run from 15 March to 22 April, from 20 May to 25 June, and from mid September to mid December. The blocks to strike off the calendar first are just as clear. According to the Presidency of Religious Affairs calendar of religious days for 2027, the eve of Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr) falls on Monday 8 March, with the festival on 9, 10 and 11 March; the eve of Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) falls on Saturday 15 May, with the festival on 16, 17, 18 and 19 May. The length of each break comes from Law No. 2429 on National and Public Holidays: 3.5 days for Ramazan Bayramı starting at 13.00 on the eve, and 4.5 days for Kurban Bayramı. Two features of 2027 shape everything else. The fourth day of Kurban Bayramı lands on 19 May, which is also Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, so the two holidays overlap without generating an extra day, yet mid May still loses close to a full working week. And Ramadan begins on 8 February, which puts almost the whole of February into iftar format. Below: the 2027 holiday list, the school calendar, trade fair density, what a holiday shift does to labour cost, and the weeks that are genuinely open.
Which days are public holidays in Turkey in 2027?
One statute sets the frame. Article 1 of Law No. 2429 makes 29 October the national holiday and states that the holiday begins at 13.00 on 28 October. Article 2 lists the official holidays: 23 April, National Sovereignty and Children's Day; 19 May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day; 30 August, Victory Day. The same article treats 1 January, 1 May (Labour and Solidarity Day) and 15 July (Democracy and National Unity Day) as public holidays. It also fixes the length of the religious festivals: 3.5 days for Ramazan Bayramı and 4.5 days for Kurban Bayramı, in both cases counted from 13.00 on the eve. One sentence in the article gets missed in almost every plan: when a holiday listed in the law ends on a Friday evening, the whole of the following Saturday is a holiday too. That rule fires three times in 2027, because 1 January, 23 April and 29 October all fall on a Friday, which adds Saturday 2 January, Saturday 24 April and Saturday 30 October. Laid out by day, the year looks like this: Friday 1 January; Ramazan Bayramı from Monday afternoon 8 March through 9, 10 and 11 March; Friday 23 April; Saturday 1 May; Kurban Bayramı from Saturday afternoon 15 May through 16, 17, 18 and 19 May; Thursday 15 July; Monday 30 August; the afternoon of Thursday 28 October and Friday 29 October. Bridge days are not on this list, because administrative leave is announced separately each year and cannot be written into a calendar in advance.
February is Ramadan: the month stays open, the format changes
Ramadan starts on Monday 8 February 2027, Laylat al-Qadr falls on Friday 5 March and the eve of the festival is Monday 8 March. That puts all of February and the first week of March inside the fasting month. You do not need to delete the month, you need to build the programme differently. Three things change. Timing first: the run of show is written around the evening call to prayer, guests are invited so they arrive before iftar, and the opening speech goes after the meal rather than before it, because in a fasting room the first ten minutes belong to the food. Service second: iftar goes out in a single wave and fast, so the kitchen and waiting plan for a 300 guest room looks nothing like a standard gala dinner. Drinks third: concepts built around a bar usually get shelved for the month, so settle internal expectations before the date is fixed. Venues tighten as well. Hotel ballrooms fill up with iftar series in February, which means February is neither a cheap month nor an empty one. A daytime programme for guests who are not fasting is perfectly workable, but an agenda that makes lunch the main gathering point of the day will not land.
Mid May loses a week: Kurban Bayramı overlaps 19 May
This is the single largest gap in 2027. The eve of Kurban Bayramı is Saturday 15 May and the festival runs 16, 17, 18 and 19 May. The fourth day, 19 May, is also Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Because the two holidays coincide, no replacement day is granted. In practice offices close on the evening of Friday 14 May and reopen on the morning of Thursday 20 May. The block sits in the middle of the spring dealer meeting and field launch season. Two consequences follow. The week of 10 to 14 May is the last one before the break, so freight, crews and hotel rooms are expensive and scarce at the same time, and part of your crew will be watching the clock on that Friday. The week after the holiday is a warm-up week, so an event placed on 20 or 21 May collects its confirmations late. If May is the month, the weeks of 3 to 7 May and 24 to 28 May are the safer picks.
Why the school calendar decides your date
Because a large share of your guests and your own staff are parents. Under the 2026-2027 calendar published by the Ministry of National Education, the first term started on Monday 14 September 2026 and ends on Friday 22 January 2027; the first mid-term break runs 16 to 20 November 2026, the semester break runs 25 January to 5 February 2027, the second term starts on Monday 8 February 2027, the second mid-term break runs 8 to 12 March 2027, and the academic year closes on Friday 25 June 2027. Two of those dates matter directly. The semester break lasts two full weeks, and in those two weeks flight and hotel prices climb, which shows up in the budget of any out-of-town programme. The second mid-term break overlaps the religious festival: schools close on Monday 8 March and the holiday begins that same afternoon, so treat the whole week as closed. After 25 June the summer starts, and July and August are the two weakest months of the year for corporate events, with lower attendance and decision makers on leave. The 2027-2028 calendar has not been published yet; the ministry usually announces it during the summer, so wait for the school opening date before locking a September 2027 programme.
What does a holiday shift add to labour cost?
Holidays change the cost line, not just the attendance line. Article 44 of Labour Law No. 4857 says whether work will be performed on national and public holidays is agreed in the collective or individual employment contract, and where the contract is silent, the employee's consent is required to work on those days. Article 47 sets the pay: an employee who does not work on such a day is paid the full day's wage without performing work, and an employee who does work is paid one additional day's wage for each day worked. So a crew loading in on the second day of a religious holiday effectively doubles that day's labour rate. The timing of the eve matters too: because the holiday starts at 13.00 on the eve, a morning load-in on that day counts as a normal day while the afternoon counts as a holiday. The 29th of October carries its own sentence. Article 2 of Law No. 2429 requires private workplaces to close on 29 October. If you are planning a Republic Day reception or an opening on that date, agree in advance how the venue and the suppliers intend to operate under that rule. And ask every supplier one question in writing: is the holiday labour premium included in the quoted price, and if not, how much is it.
Trade fairs: why September, October and November are full
You are not the only one booking. On 3 September 2026 the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) published the main trade fair calendar for 2027, approving 323 fairs: 99 international, 182 national and 42 local. The distribution piles into three months. September holds 46 fairs, October 44 and November 46, so those three months alone carry 42 per cent of the year's fairs. The city split is sharper still: Istanbul takes 173 of them, more than half the list, followed by Izmir with 31, Ankara with 23 and Antalya with 22. The connection to your dealer meeting is direct. During fair weeks, stand production, truss and LED screen stock, freight vehicles, installation crews and hotel rooms are all in demand at once, and both price and availability move accordingly. If autumn is the season, lock equipment reservations and the room block months ahead. The spring alternative is visibly calmer in the same calendar, with 35 fairs in March and 33 in April.
Which windows are actually open in 2027?
Four stand out. The first runs 15 March to 22 April: the festival is over, schools are in session, fair density is low and the weather starts to allow outdoor builds. The second runs 26 April to 14 May, though its final week is squeezed because it backs onto Kurban Bayramı. The third runs 20 May to 25 June and offers the most room for spring launches, award nights and graduation ceremonies, with the school year closing on 25 June. The fourth runs from mid September to mid December, the most contested block of the year, where booking early is what decides the outcome. The intervals to treat as closed: 8 to 12 March, 15 to 19 May, July and August, 28 to 30 October, and the week of New Year. One note for year-end parties: 31 December 2027 falls on a Friday and 1 January 2028 on a Saturday, so the usual New Year bridge does not form. Expect the second and third weeks of December to be busier than usual as a result.
Six checks before you lock the date
One: does your date fall on a public holiday, on the eve of one, or on the Saturday that follows one. Two: is a major trade fair running in the same city that week, since the TOBB main fair calendar is public and is the first document to open before a date decision. Three: how does your audience map onto the school calendar, and will a semester or mid-term break cut attendance. Four: if the date falls inside Ramadan, will the programme be rebuilt as an iftar format, with the menu and timing to match. Five: if load-in or load-out lands on a holiday, is the labour premium written into the quote. Six: how many days does the venue option hold, and is your second choice ready if it lapses. Tales Event is based in Istanbul and delivers dealer meetings, product launches, gala nights, openings, graduation ceremonies and year-end parties across Turkey with one team, covering stage, sound, lighting, LED screens, decor and simultaneous interpretation. Send us the date range you have in mind for 2027 and your guest count, and we will cross it against the holiday, fair and school calendars and come back with the workable weeks and a line-by-line budget.
